Jeep Willys in Circasia

To the farms, to the hamlets, and to whatever lies past the end of the tarmac.

Circasia sits fifteen minutes from Armenia, so most people reach the main square by bus or in their own car and then need only the last stretch: the unpaved climb up to the farm. That short leg is the one almost nobody attempts in a city car, and it is what gets booked here most. Usually three or four travellers with luggage, or a family arriving for the weekend.

The town also has the Cementerio Libre, a national monument and the first cemetery in Colombia open to people of any faith, which brings a steady trickle of visitors midweek. Those are short hops within the town and out to the nearest hamlets. The longer runs go out along the roads to Filandia and Salento — half an hour or more, and worth booking as a return if you are coming back the same day.
